Happiest for myself...

The only bit of news that I have for myself is that the Museum that I worked on throughout the winter and took me away from everything and everyone was published in this month’s Contract magazine: http://www.contractconnected.com/0906/ (Freedom Museum by VOA Associates, Inc.). Its wonderful news for me because it’s the first time I have had a project be published…so to some degree it feels like after almost ten years of working, being laid off twice and always being the only minority in the firm, I can pat myself on the back because I have something I can point at and say “I did that!”…but only in privacy of my own mind.
It’s sad really because I just want to jump up and smile and scream at the top of my lungs…”See all you Bright Bastards, I am just as good as you, respect me!” but can’t and I won’t…because that’s not how the world works. For “US” that is…we don’t get to celebrate like “they” do, we don’t get to beat our chest and dare the world not to bow down to our greatness like they do. We get to be humble and be happy for whatever they give us, we get to smile within ourselves, sneak into corners and quietly embrace our achievements; because at the end of the day this is their industry, their rules, it’s their playing field and they decide when it’s to be level. At times the layer of arrogance is so thick that they would try to make you believe they created gravity.
So I suppose if you have to be good at something, defying the laws of gravity is a pretty good talent to have.
And now Door #3:

Deep House is my thing, I have been listening to it well before it even had a name. If you have no idea what Deep House is I will write something about it at a later date. Lately, Freerange Records has been my Deep House Label of choice. I cant vouche for every single artist the label has nor every track that they put out, but I gotta say most of the tracks I have purchased have launched me straight back to those nights in my room listening to KKC or the Hot Mix 5 on GCI...and dreaming of a world that could never be...it was/is the music created to tap deep into your soul...believe me it wouldn't matter if you like House Music or not, unlike any other genre of music, once you hear the right track, your soul will never allow you to forget it.
Enjoy,
DjD
